Scarce Cologne edition of this popular ascetic tract. All early editions of this ascetic work are anonymous, and it has been falsely attributed to Dionysius Carthusiensis due to its own claim of having been edited by a Carthusian. The Carthusian is, however, Jacobus de Gruytrode, prior of the Charterhouse of the Twelve Apostles near Liège. With nice title woodcut. 24 leaves, Gothic type, 36 lines, rubricated. Mod. half calf. - First 2 leaves browned in margins, else minor fingerstaining. Fine printing on strong paper with numerous contemp. marginalia and maniculae.
