Eigentlicher Akteur des Buches ist allerdings nicht die titelgebende Mother Hubbard , sondern ihr Hund, der nicht nur brav Platz macht und sich tot stellen kann, sondern auch Pfeife raucht, Flöte spielt, Kopfstand macht, die Katze füttert, Zeitung liest und sich als Diener verkleidet. Besonders reizend: Wenn der Hund sich im Spiegel zunickt, macht sein Spiegelbild die gleiche Bewegung. Auf dem VDeckel eine hs.
