Luxuriös ausgestattetes Jugendstilwerk und zugleich einer der wichtigsten Beiträge des Schweizer Art Nouveau von Eugène Grasset. Num. Exemplar einer kl. Auflage dieser einmaligen Luxusausgabe auf hellgrauem Papier von Miliani in Fabriano. - "The first book and poster artist of his generation to create a typographic font. The Grasset type has a technical importance, for the final design was achieved by a photographic reduction of the artist's original drawing, instead of by handcopying, which was the usual practice" (Garvey 386). - Die ersten 12 Tafeln zeigen naturalistische Blätterstudien, die folgenden sechs stilisierte Arrangements (Entwürfe für Fayence-Vasen, Papiermuster, Tapeten etc.). Minimale Feuchtigkeitsbeeinträchtigungen. Insges. schönes Exemplar.

Luxuriously made Art Nouveau work, at the same time one of the most important contributions by Eugène Grasset to Swiss Art Nouveau. Two columns with splendid ornamental borders, partly in yellow, partly in salmon; numerous large initials, ornamental title borders, decorative bars and vignettes by Eugène Grasset. With 18 mounted color plates, partly with naturalistic, partly with stylized illustration of leaves. Each plate with protective sheet of fine transparent paper with French and Latin inscriptions of types of leaves shown, also surrounded by neat borders. Illustrated orig. cloth with floral endpapers in salmon and green. - Minimal waterstains. All in all fine copy.
