"Written by one of the greatest connaisseurs of birds of the time, the work deals with 1336 species in addition to 150 'varieties' distributed over 115 genera, which are again grouped in 26 orders .. The plates, which are folded, were drawn and engraved by Martinet. Contemp. mottled calf with rich gilt spine and label. - Some leaves slightly browned, 2 plates misbound, 1 text leaf with small tear, title vo. stamped, back flying endpapers with ex-library stamp. Binding with wormtraces, specially at the spine (2 spines with defective spots), edges partly bumped (1 with defective spot). - Altogether fine and inside clean copy.
