Vollständiges Exemplar mit prachtvoll altkolorierten Kupfertafeln mit tlw. üppigen Darstellungen exotischer Blütenpflanzen, Früchte, Bäume und Sträucher. Sämtliche Tafeln mit den Pflanzenhauptnamen in Gold. - "So sind denn diese 'Plantae selectae' zum schönsten deutschen Pflanzenwerk geworden; ja auch unter den Werken des Auslandes gibt es wohl nur wenige, die mit ihm überhaupt in Wettbewerb treten konnen. Es erschien von 1750 an in langsamen Fortschreiten Blatt für Blatt, die dann zu Decurien zusammengefasst wurden und insgesamt eine Zenturie ausmachen sollten. Trew erlebte jedoch die Vollendung nicht; 1764-66 wurde erst die 7. Decurie fertig, von der 73. Tafel an gab dann bis 1773, der Altdorfer Professor B. Chr. Vogel das Werk heraus." (Nissen S. 176f.).

EINBAND: Lederband der Zeit mit floraler Rückenvergoldung. 51,5 : 38 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit 3 Porträttafeln in Schabkunstmanier (zeigen Trew, Ehret und J. J. Haid), 10 gestochenen Titeln (9 kolor. in Rot und Gold) und 100 kolorierten Kupfertafeln nach G. D. Ehret, gestochen von J. J. und J. E. Haid. - KOLLATION: 2 Bll., 56 S., 1 Bl. - ZUSTAND: Nur leicht (finger-)fleckig und in der zweiten Hälfte tlw. gleichmäßig leicht gebräunt, 1 Zwischentitel mit Wasserrand, 1 Tafel mit stellenw. leicht verwischtem Kolorit und Farbabrieb, 1 Tafel in der unten rechten Ecke mit Wasserrand (im weißen Rand), Porträts etwas stock- und wasserfleckig. Einbd. mit Schabstellen, 2 Fehlstellen im Bezug des Vorderdeckels ergänzt, Gelenke und Kapitale restauriert.

Complete copy of the botanical work with magnificent illustrations, a joint venture by Trew, Ehert and Haid S. and Jr. With 10 engr. titles (letters mostly colored in red and gold) and 100 beautifully col. engr. plates after Ehret. Contemp. calf. - Only slightly (finger-)staining, slightly evenly tanned towards the second half, 1 title page waterstaind, 1 plate with waterstaining in lower right corner (not affecting the illustration), portraits foxed and waterstained. Binding with visible srcapes, 2 defective spots in the cover of the front board renewed, hinges and extremeties of spine restored.
