Flora atlantica, sive historia plantarum, quae in Atlante, agro Tunetano et Algeriensi crescunt. 2 Text- und 2 Tafelbände in 4 Bänden. Paris, Blanchon 1800.

Flora von Tunis und Algier mit sehr schönen Kupferstichen nach Redouté. "Very fine and beautiful work, representative of the best line engraving" (Dunthorne).

Beschreibung von rund 1500 Phanerogamen-Arten, darunter 300 neue. Verfaßt vom französischen Mediziner und Botaniker René Louiche Desfontaines (1750-1833); die Tafeln zum überwiegenden Teil gestochen nach Zeichnungen von Pierre Joseph Redouté (92) und seinem Bruder Henri Joseph Redouté (61). - "Cet ouvrage fit époque dans la botanique descriptive, et est resté au nombre des livres les plus classiques et les plus estimés" (Plesch). - Nach Stafleu der dritte Druck der ersten Ausgabe. Die Tafeln numeriert 1-261 sowie 71bis und eine weitere Tafel "pag. 254" mit Darstellung Atractylis flava .

EINBAND: Zeitgenössische marmorierte Lederbände mit zwei farbigen Rückenschildern und Rückenvergoldung. 29 : 22,5 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit 263 Kupfertafeln von Sellier nach P. J. und H. J. Redouté. - ZUSTAND: Wenige Tafeln mit schwachem Wasserrand, vereinz. leicht. fleckig, sonst saubere Drucke auf festem Papier. Tafel 182 mit restauriertem Längsriß. Ecken und Gelenke tls. ausgebessert. Gutes Exemplar. - PROVENIENZ: Titel mehrfach mit Bibl.-Stempeln, verso mit Dublettenstempel. - Exlibris des schwedischen Botanikers Ove Almborn (1914-1992).

Third issue of the important flora of north-west Africa. 2 text- and 2 plate vols. With 263 copperplates after P. J. and H. J. Redouté, numbered 1-261, 71bis and a plate numb. "pag. 254" depicting "Atractylis flava". Contemp. marbled calf with 2 color labels and gilt spine. - Few plates with faint waterstain, here and there minor staining, pl. 182 with restored tear, else fine plates. Each title with library stamps (cancelled). Edges and joints repaired in places. Bookplate of the botanist Ove Almborn.(R)
