Zweite Ausgabe dieser Bearbeitung des Hauptwerks von Andrea Palladio durch den Architekten Bertotti Scamozzi, mit zahlreichen Architekturentwürfen für Paläste, Kirchen, Wohnhäuser, Theater u. a.

"Focusing on the second book by Palladio on private houses, Bertotti-Scamozzi organizes his analytical presentation of Palladio's buildings in a novel manner, that is, geographically and stylistically .. [His] inventory of Palladio's buildings included thorough archival research and a critical reading of the Palladian literature" (Millard Coll.). - Textkollation abweichend zu den Angaben der Bibliographien, entspricht dem französischen Teil der italienisch-französischen ersten Ausgabe von 1776-1784.

Bl. - ZUSTAND: Stellenw. mit Quetschfalten und etw. fleckig, 2 Taf. mit kl. Wurmspur im Randbereich, Frontisp. verso mit altem Eintrag "Padua Juli 1791". Kanten leicht berieben. The second French edition. Bertotti Scamozzi (1719-1790), who produced and illustrated this edition, was a distinguished architect and the main representative of neoclassical art in Vicenza, Palladio's home town. With engr. portrait of Palladio, 4 engr. vignettes to titles, 1 engr. text vignette, 210 illustrations on 208 copperplates (34 double-page) by David Rossi, Gaetano Testolini and others. 20th cent. half calf with old leather label on spine. - Text collation deviating from the information in the bibliographies, it corresponds to the French part of the Italian-French first edition from 1776-1784. - Partly with publisher's creases and somewhat stained, 2 plates with small worm trace in the margin, frontisp. verso with old entry "Padua July 1791". Edges slightly rubbed. Altogether fine wide margined copy.
