(Brunet) - "Although the book was published in Paris for the French market, it will be noticed that four of the engravers and two of the artists are English; men who were working in France, and especially Paris, at this remarkable time for English watercolor art."

LITERATUR: Abbey, Travel 92 - Polak 5602. - Brunet II, 1130.

Only edition. Magnificent views of the Normandy and its harbor towns, set of 40 aquatint plates (of which 3 tinted). Modern half calf with contemp. marbled paper covering. 55 : 40 cm. - In comparison with the copy in the Abbey Collection, the plates were bound in a slightly different order, however, exactly the way the plate index specifies; as far as the paper size is concerned, this copy is a lot larger and has wider margins than the one in the Abbey Collection. - Just slightly stained in places of broad magins, title with rebacked marginal split; edges rubbed, spine and binding renewed. All in all fine and clean copy with remarkable broad margins and on large paper.
