Zu Beginn eingebunden 3 eigenhändige Briefe m. U. von Rowley an den Zoologen Albert Günther, Direktor der Zoologischen Abteilung des Natural Museums in London und Mitglied der Royal Society. Zus. 5 S. 22. Febr. 1875 bis 14. März 1877. 18 : 11,5 cm.
"My dear Dr Günther, I have requested my publisher Mister Trübner & Co to send you my first vol. of the Ornithological Miscellany, which I beg you to do me the favour to accept. I trust your experienced eye will not detect many errors.." (22. Febr. 1875) - ".. I have just finished Ernest Haeckeli Creation and trust to continue to believe in almighty God till my end comes, in spite of all that author and others can say to the contrary, but I suppose he will make converts, I am too old fashioned to become one of his doctrines! .. I am trying to make out (between ourselves) the reason why , in some birds the female is nearly twice as big as the male, in other equal to him in size, or less.." (17. Jan. 1876). - Haeckels 1868 erschienener Bestseller Natürliche Schöpfungsgeschichte , der entscheidend zur Popularisierung der Evolutionstheorie beitrug, wurde 1876 ins Englische übersetzt.
