"Fundamental and well-known classic treatise on humming-birds" (Wood). ".. With this work Lesson continues the series of volumes in which he treats of humming-birds. Like the preceding volume 'Histoire naturelles des oiseaux-mouches' it appeared in different issues .. The last section of the text consists of the supplement mentioned in the title .. The plates, printed in color, are beautifully executed." (Anker).
EINBAND: Blaue Halbmaroquinbände um 1900 mit Quarré-Rückenvergoldung und goldgeprägten Rückentiteln, sowie Goldschnitt. 23,5 : 16 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit zusammen 132 kolorierten oder in Farbe gedruckten gestochenen Tafeln. - KOLLATION: X, 196 S.; 2 Bll., IV, XLIII, 171 S. - ZUSTAND: Leicht stockfleckig, Tafeln gleichmäßig etw. gebräunt, Vorsätze leimschattig. Gelenke stellenw. mit kl. Bereibungen, Rücken leicht verfärbt.

Complete copies with altogether 132 colored or colorprinted engr. plates. Blue half morocco from around 1900 with gilt decoration on spine and gilt edges. - Slightly foxed, plates somewhat evenly tanned, pastedowns partly discolored by glue. Joints slightly rubbed in places.
