Ignatius Mouradja d'Ohsson
Tableau général de l'Empire Othoman. Bd. I-II (von 3). Paris, l'imprimerie de Monsieur 1787-1790.

Bedeutendes Werk des armenischen Orientalisten Ignatius Mouradja d'Ohssons (1740-1807), das Geschichte, Kultur und Staatsordnung des Osmanischen Reiches behandelt.

Erste Ausgabe.
"Many of the very important plates, illustrating for the most part the official costumes of the Ottoman court functionaires, are after drawings by J. B. Hilaire, the artist who accompanied Choiseul-Gouffier in 1776. Other plates are after Cochin and Moreau le jeune. These two artists are not known to have travelled in the Levant; their drawings may be after original drawings by indigenous artists. In fact many manuscript collections of Turkish costume are based on these plates and are not taken from nature" (Blackmer).

- KOLLATION: 3 Bll., X S., 1 Bl., 324 S., 2 Bll.; 2 Bll., VIII S., 357 S. - ZUSTAND: Tls. leicht stockfl., stellenw. wasserrandig. Einbde. leicht berieben, 2 Deckel mit Schabspuren, 1 Außengelenk etw. eingerissen. Gutes unbschnittenes Exemplar aus königlichem Besitz.
LITERATUR: Blackmer 1164. - Chahine 3475f. - Atabey 846. - Cohen/Ricci Sp. 763. - Monglond I, 1135 ff. (mit genauer Kollation).
