Editio princeps der Pentateuch-Homilien des Origines, des größten und gelehrtesten Kirchenvaters in einem wunderschönen und seltenen Aldus-Druck. Die berühmte Anker-Druckermarke hier erstmals im größeren Format und am Ende gedruckt: "This is in fact the first of the folio-sized devices, and it appears for the first time on the final verso of the Origen of February 1503. This appears to be a New Style date .." (Fletcher S. 53).

EINBAND: Schöner Pergamentband unter Verwendung eines alten Antiphonarmanuskripts. Folio. 31, 5 : 22,5 cm.- ILLUSTRATION: Mit Holzschnitt-Druckermarke am Ende.- KOLLATION: 6 nn., 182 num. Bll.- ZUSTAND: Stellenw. leicht wasserrandig (erste Bll. deutlicher), vereinzelt kl. Wurmspuren (Buchstabenverlust), zahlr. zeitgenössische Marginalien in Blaßrot, Titel mit ergänztem Eckabschnitt und altem Bibl.-Stempel.

First edition of Origines' sermons on the Pentateuch (translation by Hieronymus), finely printed by Aldus. Very rare. With woodcut printer's device at end. The large Aldine anchor and dolphin device first appears in this edition, which is also of interest for Aldus' (anonymous) preface to the reader, in which the financial partnership of Aldus' father-in-law Andreas Torresanus is first cited in print. Modern vellum using an old antiphonar manuscript. - Partly slight waterstaining (first leaves somewhat stronger), here and there small wormtraces, numerous contemp. marginalia in pale red, title with mended cutout to lower corner and old libr. stamp.
