Einzige Ausgabe, auf dem Auktionsmarkt meist wie hier nur in Einzelbänden zu finden: Vorhanden Centurien II und IV mit jeweils 100 numerierte Kupfertafeln; das vollständige Werk erschien von 1785-1806 in 78 Heften mit insgesamt 585 Tafeln, weitestgehend in Eigenarbeit des Autors erstellt. "Andreas Friedrich Happe [1733-1802] was a pharmacist of Berlin who interested himself not only in medical plants but in ferns and in plants of kitchen and flower garden. He published such illustrated works as Botanica pharmaceutica .. For all these, apparently, he painted the pictures, made the necessary engravings, and probably colored many. Pritzel, Nissen, Grässe list these published volumes .. Other bibliographies and catalogues make no mention of these rare works." (Hunt)

With 2 col. engr. title pages and 200 engr. botanical plates in fine contemporary colors. Contemp. half calf. - Text foxed, plates partly slightly foxed mainly in the margins, 1 plate stronger, 1 plate trimmed to platemark in right margin, overall well-preserved.
